News Boiler Launching Platform Tractel Swingstage has developed with Power and Industrial a Boiler Launching Platform. This platform is designed to access the upper portion of Industrial Boilers by building a working deck at the nose level of the boiler. Nebraska Public Power District is our first customer for the Gerald Gentleman Station, Nebraska's largest generating plant. Located near Sutherland, Nebraska, the plant consists of two coal-fired generating units, which together have the capability to generate 1,365 megawatts of power.
Traditionally when the boiler is shut down access is gained from one door at the bottom of the boiler and work would begin to build scaffolding from this point up to access the heating coils at the top. A very time consuming and labor intensive process, where every hour the power plant is down represents lost revenue.
In March Bob Nitsch from Nebraska Public Power District and Larry Shekell from Power and Industrial where at the Tractel Swingstage facility in Toronto to watch the assembly of 2 sections of the 8 sections that make the launching platform. The final size of the custom launching platform is approximately 34’ by 72’ once completely assembled.
The Launching Platform has been shipped to the Gerald Gentleman Station power plant and is being installed in April to be ready for launching into the boiler in May 2007. Recent Projects Awarded | Recently Completed Projects | Upcoming Industry Trade Shows | Recent Advertisements | Industry Links
