Powered platforms and portable davits are the most popular solution for exterior building access in North America.

A Davit system is not limited to just powered platforms, Boatswain's chairs can also be suspended from a Davit support. The benefit of using the Davit is that no load is applied to the parapet or railing of the building.

Tractel's two-piece davits shown in the adjacent photo are designed to tilt to horizontal before detachment from the davit base. When the arms are lowered, the davit boom can be easily separated from the davit mast for movement to the next work location. The davit mast has its own transportation wheels for movement along the roof.

The davit boom rotates smoothly around the mast on a unique roller collar, while captive trolley rolls within a custom extrusion, to allow optimum positioning of the stage platform. To further simplify the operation, erection winches and self-turning handles are available.

The platform is launched over the parapet by first swinging one boom out, then the other. The mast can be lowered out of view when not in use.
